Results for the 22nd and 29th April

Wednesday the 22nd saw us playing our first par event for the season which was sponsored by Venus and Mars Hair Studio and the Leeuwin Lighthouse Café. Par can be an extremely frustrating game especially for the low handicappers but this certainly didn’t deter Jill Perkins who came in with a fabulous +6 to win the competition. Jill also won the gross with a lovely 84 off the stick. Congratulations Jill you played beautifully. The nearest contenders were Lyan Shephard and Leanne Ettridge both with +2, but the victor on the day was Lyan Shephard who took away the runner-up trophy on c/back.

Novelties went to Jill Perkins, Joyce Challis and Janice Eddy.

Jubilee Fours was the name of last weeks game with everyone vying for the privilege of winning the competition and getting the opportunity to play in Perth against other country women.

Tension was running high which resulted in one eager golfer even getting bogged on the way up to the golf club. Apparently she wasn’t too concerned about how the helpful Calm guys went about getting her out of her predicament as long as they did it quickly so she didn’t miss her tee time!!!

Betty Gray and Patricia Howells blitzed the field with an outstanding 45pts. When asked how they did it one of them answered (not to be named) a large glass of scotch and a good night sleep. This scribe is going to try that next week.

Coming runner-up in this competition is eagerly sought after as well as there is always the chance that the winners will decline to go to Perth so the next in line can step in. We had three pairs on 38pts but the cleverest of the three were Wendy Wilson and Keryn Thorpe who beat Lyan Shephard and Leanne Ettridge and also Diana Ellis and Judy Anderson on c/back. We thank Kerfuffle Wines for their generous sponsorship.

Novelties on the day went to Judy Anderson and Shirley Swarbrick.

This week’s competition is a stableford event sponsored by Augusta Building Supplies

Etiquette:- The Spirit of the game.

Unlike many sports, golf is played for the most part, without the supervision of an umpire or referee. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and to abide by the "Rules of Golf".
All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesey and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be.
This is the Spirit of the game of golf.
